In Jeffrey's Own Words

A reflection on calling, service and purpose.

To become an ICU Doctor requires serious schooling and major dedication to training and yes, this job does pay a lot of money but, for me it's not about the money.

It's about leaving a lasting legacy and being a part of something bigger than yourself. It's servant leadership and at the end of the day it's about saving lives.

Your support helps us fight for healthcare reform that values life over profit

Your support is essential to sustaining our mission and amplifying our voice. Jeffrey's Journey & Legacy is committed to becoming a respected and recognized force for healthcare reform in Texas nd ultimately across the nation. To be heard by hospitals, policymakers, corporations, and institutions, we must continue producing impactful, educational content and engaging directly with decision-makers.

This includes our documentary OPEN YOUR EYES JEFFREY, which premiered in Texas theaters on March 6, 2025 exactly one year after Jeffrey's death. Now available on Amazon Prime, Roku, YouTube, Comcast, and Sling TV. The film has sparked critical conversations about medical injustice, premature withdrawal of care, and the urgent need for systemic reform. We have also produced our second feature-length documentary, UNBROKEN: What Science Didn't See, which has been officially entered to participate in the REELABILITIES International Film Festival 2026.

This film is a message of hope, grounded in the true science of neuroplasticity and neuromodulation, and features nationally renowned physiatrists Dr. Cindy Ivanhoe, Dr. Craig DiTommaso, and Dr. Matthew Lin. UNBROKEN challenges outdated assumptions about brain injury recovery and highlights what modern rehabilitation science makes possible when patients are given time, expertise, and meaningful care. Behind this work is a small, determined team led by a single advocate Jessica Varian, who travels to the Capital of Texas in Austin to engage with the Texas Brain Injury Advisory Council. She engages with legislative proposals to state leaders, visits to families in critical hospital situations, draft EMTALA transfer letters. In addition to this, she produces film documentaries, created social media content and champions brain injury right advocacy through research, education, outreach, and public awareness. These efforts require resources for travel, lodging, media production, AI technology, and daily operational needs.

With your help, we can keep pushing forward sharing stories that matter, defending the lives and dignity of brain injury survivors, and driving meaningful reform.

Together, we can create lasting change. Please join us.
